The Multi-purpose mill is an all-purpose machine for a wide range of fine size reduction tasks in the laboratory. It can process a broad spectrum of samples, including moist or dry, fibrous, brittle, or plastic materials < 15 mm and with Mohs hardness up to approx. 6.
Operating Behavior & Mechanical Features
Size reduction of the continuously fed material in the multi-purpose mill proceeds until the material can pass through the slotted screen or perforated ring screen. This prevents over-grinding of already generated fine material. The comminuted material is collected in the grinding cassette and can subsequently be removed by the operator.
Alternatively, a grinding cassette with a connection nozzle can be used, allowing the crushed material to be conveyed away by the extraction air. The material is then separated via an intermediate cyclone and collected in a sample collection bottle (500 cm³ / 5 dm³). By cooling the grinding chamber with extraction air or by introducing cooling gases—combined with the feed rate and the temperature sensor—the grinding chamber temperature can be controlled, enabling gentle processing of temperature-sensitive materials.
The mixer attachment, which is also available, is designed exclusively for discontinuous operation. For this purpose, the sample to be ground is placed into the mixer cassette and the cassette lid is fitted. After closing the housing cover, the mill can be started. The comminuted material remains in the mixer cassette and can then be removed.
For operator safety, the damper-assisted lid is monitored and can only be opened once the drive has come to a complete stop.
