The Multi-purpose mill is an all-around machine for a wide variety of fine comminution tasks in the laboratory. It can process a broad range of samples -including moist or dry, fibrous, brittle, or plastic materials – with a feed size of < 15 mm and a Mohs hardness of up to approximately 6.
Operating behavior & mechanical features
Crushing and milling of the continuously fed material takes place in the universal mill until it can pass through the slotted sieve or perforated ring screen. This prevents overgrinding of fine material that has already been produced. The shredded material is collected in the grinding cassette and can then be removed by the operator. Alternatively, a milling cassette with a connection nozzle can be used, and the comminuted material is removed by the extraction air. It is then separated via an intermediate cyclone into a sample collection bottle (500 cm³/5 dm³). By cooling the grinding chamber with suction air or adding cooling gases, and by monitoring the temperature sensor and material feed rate, grinding chamber temperatures can be controlled to ensure the gentle processing of temperature-sensitive substances.
The available mixer insert is intended exclusively for batch operation. For this purpose, the sample to be ground is placed into the mixer cassette and the cassette lid is applied. The mill can be started after the housing cover is closed. The shredded material remains in the mixer cassette and can be removed afterward.
For the safety of the operator, the damper-supported cover is monitored and can only be opened once the drive has come to a complete standstill.
